Golden Hour

I’m not here to critique anyone’s parenting — just passing along what I’ve learned from real, joy-filled, slightly chaotic, and oh-so-sweet sessions that bring out the best sunset moments.

1. The “Danger Nap” is your friend.

One late bedtime for that dreamy golden light? Absolutely worth it. Kids usually run wild, crash hard, and actually sleep better afterward.

2. No nap + late shoot = a quick meltdown.

A tiny catnap can be the hero of the night and keep everyone smiling until the very last click.

3. Skip calling it a photoshoot.

Tell your kids you’re going on an adventure! Maybe you’ll find treasure, splash in the creek, or meet Bluey’s buddy who just happens to have a camera (hi, that’s me).

4. Full bellies, happy hearts.

Feed them before you come, and toss some snacks and drinks in your bag. I fully support bribes — mini marshmallows work like magic.

5. Don’t wait for “someday.”

These photos will show the love you feel, not the number on the scale. And if outfits feel stressful, I’ll help you pick something that makes you feel confident and comfortable.

6. Let them be free.

The more space your kids have to play and explore, the more genuine and joyful your photos will be.

Remember— perfection isn’t the goal here. It’s about having fun, being together, and freezing this wild, beautiful chapter of life.

Xoxo,
From a mama who loves structure and routines but loves golden-hour magic too.
