  • Once you book your session, start thinking of the clothes right away. You may think certain clothes will fit your kids or that one dress is clean. If you wait until the day of or day before you may run into an issue of clothes not fitting, being dirty or need to be dry cleaned.

  • the golden rule, keep it simple. neutrals are your best friend … light and airy colors keep things happy and bright and tend to photograph the best, creating a timeless look.

  • Long gone are the days of everyone wearing a white shirt and matching. Instead, pick a couple of colors and choose clothes that will fit in this color scheme. Light and airy colors tend to photograph the best. Keeping the color palette neutral creates a timeless and classic look.

  • There's nothing wrong with wearing patterns or stripes. Just make sure they go with the color theme you select and include plenty of neutrals to carry them through. Pair small patterns or big stripes with some textured pieces and you can’t go wrong.Item description

  • Layering and using textures are very important. Adding a scarf, a knit cardigan, hat, or stylish jewelry is one of the best ways to add color, individuality, and interest to your portrait. Textures in particular add an incredible amount of visual interest to photos.

  • Yes, your little one may love their Toy Story shirt but you may want to skip it for the family photo session. Just like patterns, characters on shirts can be pretty distracting - plus Buzz lightyear is not a family member.

  • If you are wearing an all black then it is very easy to lose detail and definition. It's easy to have clipping on black clothing and if the whole family is in the same color it's hard to tell where some limbs start and other limbs end.

  • Don't ignore what goes on your feet. This is the best area to get creative - leather boots, sandals or even barefoot ... all look better than your every day footwear and add loads of personality to your photos.

  • These photos will be hanging on your walls and treasured for years to come. By choosing simple, classic clothes you will help give your images a timeless feel.

  • Always wear clothes that you will be comfortable in. Make sure that selected clothing flatters your body and you feel confident wearing it. Garments that allow movement are definitely a plus, especially for little children. Think about your location. Ideally, your choice of clothing should stand out against the backdrop of the selected location while complimenting it as well. In the winter, bright cheery colors go a long way against brown trees and an otherwise dull surrounding. Relax, have fun and enjoy this time. I promise a family having fun photographs so much more beautiful.
